Breakfast in Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel

We like the suite that looked fresh. the view from our room was a nice addition. There’s a sofa bed where the lounge is but it seemed like the bottom part of the sofa bed was sunken and uncomfortable but it didn’t really hinder us enjoying the accommodation. Breakfast was a treat that we really enjoyed. The staff were all helpful and friendly. One of the staff in the restaurant (sorry didn’t got your name sir)while we’re having breakfast he noticed that our baby girl (1year old) was standing by the seat where we were to have her food as she’s too small for the regular chair and reach the table . Our baby was actually enjoying it while she’s looking around but the gentleman saw this and he took a high chair for us without asking if we need it. We didn’t asked for high chair because on the first day of our breakfast there we’ve been told there’s no high chair available so the next day we just thought there’s nothing available so we just left it. We still had a good breakfast but it was an extra nice day for us that time so thank you for that nice gentleman staff.

The hotel was quiet, especially for the location and time of year. (Summer holidays and comic con weekend). The rooms were clean and the room facilities were basic but fit for purpose. The bed was comfortable, and the blackout curtains made the room nice and dark. We used the bar at the end of the night, which was lovely with a nice view over picadilly gardens. Our room had a similar view. The rooms were spacious with a double bed, bedside table, television (not that we used that), a safe, wardrobe area, clean towels, and more on request from reception. It was a shower/bath, too, with shampoo, etc, available. It was handy to have a car park on site where you can set up a numberplate recognition and just pay for the time parked there. For a small trip to the city centre, we would stay again.

The view was good and the parking was really good. One thing that really stood out for me, there was a young blonde girl who was on the breakfast counter, I didn't get her name, but I overheard her talking to another female guest who was sat on her own, she was asking her how her trip was going and telling her a bit about herself too and I thought it was brilliant! She also asked me if I wanted any beans with my breakfast and went and got some from the kitchen for me and brought them to my table. I have never stayed anywhere where a staff member has shown a genuine interest in how their guests are doing. She deserves a much better position in the hotel, that is for sure.

We came to celebrate our anniversary i saw that the company did a romance package i contacted the hotel to request it and even though i was willing to pay they offered it us for free. The room was decorated really nice with petals on the bed 2 bottles of prosecco balloons and chocolates and the little cards on the side of the bed wishing us a happy anniversary were a really nice touch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. View from our room was lovely.

The location of the hotel was great. Easy to walk around the town centre as you are in the middle and right next to Piccadilly with the tram and buses coming regularly. The breakfast had a nice variety of options and the hot chocolate was delicious (recommend over the coffee). The view from the bar/breakfast area was great, overlooking Piccadilly Gardens. We were attending an event at the hotel which is why we booked but not sure we’d have stayed here otherwise.
